Feedback

Gathering first impressions

This is a very early version of the game engine, a concept demo, really. I would be very interested in any feedback you may have: general impressions, bug reports, ideas, and so on. You can send me your feedback directly from the game by pressing the F1 key. The feedback panel is also accessible from both the pause menu and the game menu.

First of all, what do you think about the spell editor? It is the foundation of the game, and is meant to be easy to learn, yet flexible and powerful enough to allow all kinds of spells in the future. For the moment, I still feel it is not visual enough, but how, exactly, can it be improved?

Secondly, I need to understand how the game performs technically. For the moment, it has been tested on a very small number of computers, so I do not feel very confident about its overall performance and compatibility. Please note down and send me your notes on anything "technically" strange you may notice. If possible, please also send me the files in the appdata/analytics folder of the game after each game session, including in case of a crash. I know it sounds tedious, but it would only take a minute and it could really help in improving the game stability. As soon as the analytics backend is up, it won't be needed anymore.

It is also crucial for me to find out how the basic mechanics feel. Arcs of Magic may end up having the most advanced spell editor ever, but if the basic actions like walking, jumping, or building feel strange or awkward, it would greatly harm the playability. I would be grateful if you shared with me your thoughts on such basic actions, the interface (e.g., the HUD, the inventory screen), and the controls.

Arcs of Magic is playable, but obviously does not have much to offer, yet. It lacks content, a bunch of essential game mechanics, and better graphics. On my side, I have tons of ideas of the things to add. The downside is, of course, the astronomical amount of work required to get it done. Thus, the most precious data for me would be your ideas on what needs to be added next, in what order, and why, to help this wonderful concept I have in my mind to transform to a real game people would enjoy.

For your time and your insight, and for your willingness to put up with my modest endeavour, I thank you.
